THE BATTLE FOR FAIR COMPENSATION

Noel was born and raised in Los Angeles.  He became a union organizer with Local 11 in 1992, soon after graduating from Pomona College.  Noel has been a Union Organizer for 30 years, leading campaigns to organize non-union workplaces in the hospitality, food service and gaming industries.  Some recent campaigns include the Ontario DoubleTree, maintenance and food service workers at Pitzer College, and the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood.  Noel recently directed contract fights at Pomona College, the University of La Verne and Whittier College, where workers struck to win one of the highest standards for food service workers in the country.  Noel is currently helping to lead the hotel workers’ strike in LA, where workers at 63 hotels in LA and Orange counties and Phoenix, AZ have been striking since June 2023 as part of what may be the largest hotel worker strike in the history of the US.
